Will Douglass

Will has always been passionate about racing and has an extensive knowledge of racing and bloodstock. He embarked on a career as a bloodstock agent in January 2010, working under the watchful eye of the industry leader Charlie Gordon-Watson.

Prior to that Will served his time working for some of the most respected professionals in the game, including time spent as assistant trainer in Newmarket to Luca Cumani and Ed Dunlop, followed by a stint with champion trainer David Hayes in Australia. In addition, he also gained valuable experience working at New England Stud in Newmarket and for Windsor Park Stud in New Zealand.

 

Will grew up in rural Northumberland and when he was not at school he spent his early years buying, selling and working with young horses on the point-to-point and hunting fields.

 

With this experience, it is no surprise that Will has built up an impressive CV. Among his horses in training acquisitions are dual Group 1 winner Al Riffa, dual Hong Kong Group 1 winner and world champion sprinter Peniaphobia, Group 1 winner Royal Performer, multiple Hong Kong Group winners Helene Feeling, Rise High, Doctor Geoff, US Grade 2 winner Nancy From Nairobi, Royal Ascot winner Simenon, and top-flight performers in Qatar and Hong Kong Kerindia, Playa Del Puente, More Than This, Izzthatright and Sir Arthur Dayne.

His yearling and breeze-up purchases are headed by top two-year-old of 2024 Luther, Group 3 winner Eve Lodge - sourced for just 12,000 guineas - and Gubbass, winner of more than £200,000 from just a 26,000 guineas purchase price. Thanks Be, a 55,000 guineas two-year-old purchase, won at Royal Ascot and was subsequently sold for a large profit to America.  

 

Among his mare purchase highlights are America Nova, the dam of Group 1 German 1000 Guineas winner Nyaleti, and Cup Cake, the dam of Grade 1 winner Suedois, as well as Bulrushes, who has had sales of foals for up to 800,000 guineas.

 

Will has also undertaken work on behalf of clients on Arabian racing, helping them with their Arabian racing and breeding programmes.

Will covers all aspects of racing and bloodstock and advises clients on private sales, auction purchases, bloodstock and racing management as well as having a unique understanding of all paperwork-related issues when it comes to British and European racing and being able to take care of all of this.

 

Will set up his own bloodstock consultancy in January 2025.
